Tryout Schedule and Guidelines

We are finally able to hold tryouts for the Fall season! Thank you for your patience! Please see the schedule below. All players are welcome and encouraged to attend their age group’s tryout even if they selected not to tryout during registration. A player must attend at least one tryout to be eligible for a competitive team. We highly encourage players to attend both tryouts in order to give our evaluators the best chance to properly assess your child.

Tryouts will be grouped by birth year. To ensure you attend the correct time, please review the

schedule and the year your child was born. Players are permitted to attend tryouts for age groups older than their birth year. If you are unsure or have questions about which tryout your child should attend, please contact Leigh Herber at president@pgaysa.org.

This schedule does not guarantee that competitive teams will be formed at the age groups indicated. No player will be cut from our program. Players that do not make a competitive team will be assigned to a recreational team in their age group.

PGAYSA wants to do everything we can to protect our players, their families, and our community and slow the spread of COVID-19. Please review the following instructions and discuss these with your child prior to attending tryouts.

  • No player should attend that is sick or has been around someone who is sick. If your child is unable to attend due to illness, please email president@pgaysa.org prior to their scheduled tryout time.
  • Parents should remain in the parking lot during the tryout. If you need to come to the field area, please practice social distancing.
  • Players should wear a PGAYSA jersey if they have one. If you have both a light and a dark colored jersey, please bring both on 7/5.
  • Players must wear shin guards and bring their own gloves if they wish to be evaluated for goalkeeper. Personal equipment may not be shared among players.
  • Players should bring a soccer ball which should be disinfected before coming to the tryout.
  • Players must bring their own drink (labeled with their name) and may not share it with anyone.
  • After visiting the registration table, players should set all of their belongings at least 6 feet apart from other players and remain with their belongings until the tryout starts.
  • During water breaks, players must remain at least 6 feet apart from other players.
  • Players must refrain from shaking hands, high fives, fist bumps, and spitting.
  • Players should cover coughs / sneezes with their elbow.
  • Once the tryout has concluded, players should promptly leave the field area in order to allow space for the next group to arrive.

Monthly Meeting Schedule Update

Our meeting schedule has been updated in an effort to improve attendance.

Meetings are open to anyone who is interested in helping the Pine Grove Area Youth Soccer Association.

We encourage parents of all players to attend meetings and get involved. Help is always required, even during the offseason.

Updated Meeting Schedule:

Monthly - Last Thursday of the month at HH&L Firehall - 7 pm

Thanks in part to a generous donation from Solar Innovations Architectural Glazing Systems, we've been steadily making improvements to our Wideawake Street Field this Spring!

Referee Course

Anyone aged 14 or older that is interested in obtaining their US Youth Soccer referee license may visit the EPSARC website (www.epsarc.org ) to register. The course is run online now and will cost around $100 to take. All uniforms and materials needed for reffing must be purchased by each individual but the website can help with directing one to where these can be purchased. A one time, 3 hour field course is the final step after the online section is complete. The field course schedule is available on the website as well.

With this license, you will be able to ref in the Berks and Lebanon leagues and with an added course, Schuylkill league can also be an option as well. Any questions for help with this can be directed the Pine Grove Youth Soccer Club Representative Brandon Witmer at bwitmer@hotmail.com .
